Climate Hope Forum

Climate Hope Forum
A group of us were invited to take part in a Climate Hope Forum in Ballycroy National Park on Thursday 17th October. Ms. Mulloy, Ms. Shanahan and 4 of us children took part in the event.
It was run by The Green Schools Programme and Gráinne Ryan, the Climate Action Officer gave the presentation.
Laura Dixon, the Climate Action Officer for Mayo County Council also talked to us about her new role. Mayo County Council are the first county to have a specific Climate Action Officer so it is great that Mayo are leading the way for other counties.
We worked together in groups with children from 5 other schools to brainstorm ways in which we can help to encourage the use of renewable energy, how to move towards zero waste,  how we can protect Mayo's biodiversity and peatlands and how we can encourage the use of sustainable transport. We then presented our ideas to the other groups and answered questions.
It was a very enjoyable day and we learned a lot.
